Advanced Placement Program Credit Policies

March 2014 to February 2015

Iowa offers credit for more than 30 Advanced Placement (AP) Program exams. You can earn 3 to 8 semester hours of credit per test, depending on the subject and your score. Have your scores sent to the university. The university’s code number for score reporting is 6681.

Some AP policies are the same for the Tippie College of Business and the Colleges of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Education, Nursing, and Pharmacy; see the first chart below. Policies that differ by college (including the College of Engineering) are shown in the additional charts.

The university has implemented a new course-numbering system. In the charts below, current course numbers are followed by old course numbers in parentheses. Credit is awarded in semester hour (s.h.) units.
