Position Descriptions

CAMPUS TOUR GUIDE

  • General Duties: Provide tours of campus through walking tours and bus tours. Interact with visitors and provide information and campus experiences.
  • Hours per week: 2-10
  • Shifts: Tours are scheduled Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., and select Saturdays. Candidates are required to be available at least one shift per week.
  • Requirements: Tour Guides must have strong communication skills, a desire to share their love of the University of Iowa, and an interest in speaking to large groups of people. Knowledge of campus and involvement in campus activities is also important. Applicants need to have at least one semester completed at the University of Iowa, at least two semesters remaining before graduation, students must also have at least a 2.75 Cumulative UI GPA.

RESERVATION STUDENT

  • General duties: Schedule campus visit appointments, conduct data entry, greet and direct visitors, and serve as receptionist when needed.
  • Hours per week: 10-20
  • Shifts: Flexible during business hours (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and on Saturday mornings, 2 hour blocks preferred
  • Requirements: Have excellent customer service, organizational, and time-management skills; the ability to multi-task between numerous tasks; communicate effectively with the public, our staff, and prospective students

RESERVATION GREETER/WAY FINDER

  • General Duties: Interact with visitors and provide information and directions about our campus
  • Hours per week: 10-20
  • Shifts:  Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m
  • Requirements: Students must have strong communication skills, a desire to share their love of the University of Iowa and knowledge of campus. STUDENT ASSISTANT - OPERATIONS

  • General duties: As a member of our behind-the-scenes operations team, the responsibilities will include administrative support services, data entry, receipt of documents, processing mail, examine and evaluate data according to established guidelines. Assist with miscellaneous projects as assigned.
  • Hours per week: 10-20 (40 hours available during breaks)
  • Shifts: Flexible hours (Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.) Preferred shift schedule in 2-hour blocks.
  • Requirements: Have excellent organizational and time management skills, high degree of attention to detail; the ability to multi-task between numerous deadlines; ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Position begins immediately and can be ongoing until graduation. (part-time/full-time summer positions available)

ADMISSIONS PANELIST

  • General Duties: Admissions Panelists are composed of current students who share their experiences at the University of Iowa and are a key component to Office of Admissions presentations. Student Panelists will sit during Admissions presentations with prospective students and their families and answer moderated questions by Admissions Staff. Presentations may take place with a small audience in a classroom setting or on stage with a large audience.
  • Hours per week: 2-6
  • Shifts: Flexible during academic semester based on your availability and the Admissions events schedule (Paneling opportunities include Admitted Student Days, Junior Hawkeye Visit Days, Daily Admitted Student Iowa Overviews, Group Visits, and Next Step, Iowa events)
  • Requirements: A diverse group of students (e.g., underrepresented minorities, underrepresented identities, variety of majors/activities, and are from different areas of the US) that are involved, can tell stories, and build rapport with the students and families they meet.

CLERICAL STUDENT ASSISTANT

  • General duties: Under direct supervision, perform general clerical tasks, and organize and maintain office supplies and facilities. Duties may involve the use of a computer, a variety of software programs, and conventional office equipment.
  • Hours per week: 10-20
  • Shifts: Flexible hours (Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.) 2 hour blocks preferred
  • Requirements: Have excellent organizational and time-management skills; the ability to multi-task between numerous deadlines; communicate effectively with staff, students, and the public; the ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks according to an established timeline; gather, analyze, and display data in an appropriate format and keep accurate records; and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds

  • General Duties: Connect with students from underrepresented backgrounds and marginalized identities to enhance diversity within the University of Iowa’s student population
  • Hours per week: up to 8
  • Shifts: Flexible hours dependent on programming, presentations, and availability
  • Requirements: All Diversity Recruitment Team members must be enrolled as a full-time, undergraduate student at the University of Iowa and must maintain a minimum of 2.5 cumulative UI grade point average. Applicants must also be committed to promoting diversity, be willing to talk about their experience and involvement, and have a love for the University of Iowa
