  4. Transition Before Orientation

We’re thrilled you’re thinking about becoming a Hawkeye, but there are several things you’ll need to do before that can happen.

Upload your photo for your Iowa One Card. The Iowa One Card is your official University of Iowa.

Take any required placement tests. Placement test requirements will vary depending on the type of student (first-year, transfer, international) you are when you enter the university, your major, and any transfer or exam credit you bring into the university. Any required placement tests should be taken at least two weeks prior to your orientation session.

New undergraduate students are required to complete the online course, Success at Iowa.

  5. Complete Admission

First-year students must have your secondary school send all final, official academic records (yearly records, transcripts, mark sheets, or exam certificates for example) directly to the University of Iowa. Final academic records must also show proof of graduation and be issued after you graduate.

Transfer students must have final, official transcripts sent from every college attended.

  6. Orientation

International students who have accepted our offer of admission will be scheduled to attend Orientation before classes begin. Attending orientation is required of all new incoming undergraduate students. It is where you will meet with an academic advisor and register for your first semester of classes.
