What would people be surprised to know about you?

Although I have recently grown out of it, I used to love eating sweet corn with ketchup.

My favorite thing about working in Admissions

My favorite thing about working in Admissions is the close contact with prospective students and their families. As a tour guide on campus here at Iowa during my undergraduate years, I found a love for Admissions right away because of the interaction with students. I wanted to be able to help make the college choice and transition easier for students and share my personal experiences to make the process seem less daunting. I am so proud of this school and gained so much from my time here that I love to help others find the opportunity to do the same.

Iowa City “Must Do and Must See” Locations

For any ice cream fanatics like myself, Heyn’s Ice Cream is a must. It is a local treasure that is a bit off campus, but completely worth it. You get huge scoops of ice cream in all kinds of unique flavors for very little cost and it is the best around (sorry Coldstone!). A favorite past time of mine that always makes me happy (and a little nostalgic) is sitting on the west side stairs of the Old Capitol building at sunset. It is an incredible must-see view of Iowa City, right in the heart of campus, and on one of the most well-known and historic buildings. It just never gets old!

What makes Iowa such a great place?

A lot of what makes Iowa such a great place is the people. This state and this city are filled with some of the most kind and interesting people around. There is always someone around the corner who is willing to help you. This state is filled with such pride and a strong sense of community. There are so many different and diverse activities in Iowa City – from all of the summer arts and music festivals to the endless array of sporting events. I’ll always be proud to call Iowa home.
