Biography

What would people be surprised to know about you?

Even though I was a kid, I still remember the entire starting roster for the 1998 Minnesota Vikings, and cried my heart out when they lost in overtime to the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship game. One of these days, when the Vikings finally decide to win a Super Bowl, all these years of pain and suffering will have been worth it. Bears and Packer fans beware!

My favorite thing about working in Admissions

Getting to meet students in their hometown and high schools is easily the highlight of being an Admissions Counselor. It’s great to see students evolve into tomorrow’s leaders through their hard work, determination, and perseverance and nowhere is that more evident than within their own community. Honorable mention: getting to travel all over the state of Iowa and American Heartland to find fascinating new locations and meet interesting people.

Iowa City “Must Do and Must See” Locations

As a political junkie and sucker for great food, I highly recommend travelers visit the Hamburg Inn restaurant. Whether savoring the old-time diner atmosphere as you relax in the “Ronald Reagan booth” or sitting next to old campaign materials for Bill Clinton and other former presidential candidates, the “Burg” is a one-stop shop for nostalgia. Oh, and the tenderloins are to die for.

What makes Iowa such a great place?

Iowa is a unique place in terms of its size and the sheer volume of activities available. Whether it’s going to a music festival or enjoying the outdoors, there are a lot of things to be done on and around campus, and one simply won’t have the time to do it all in a lifetime, let alone as an undergraduate student. Remember to choose wisely and always keep an eye out for the new and exciting so you don’t miss out!
