Journalism and Mass Communication

When Kathryn began her college search she knew that she wanted to study Journalism. After many hours of researching the top programs in the country she had heard enough about Iowa to make a visit. "There was always someone there to make sure that my application process went over smoothly" says Kathryn.

After getting settled here, Kathryn soon discovered that, "everyone in the community is genuinely very welcoming and easy to get along with. It feels like home. If you need help with something or have any questions there is always someone who is willing to answer and help you out no matter the situation".

The first night game at Kinnick Stadium was a memorable experience for Kathryn. She remembers, "the whole stadium lit up with flashlights from the phones of everyone in the stands and the entire stadium started swaying back and forth and singing the Iowa fight song. Once the fight song started coming to an end the ball flew through the middle of the goal post and Iowa won the game". Every student should experience at least one home football game to help understand what it means and feels like to be a Hawkeye!

Kathryn leaves prospective students with one piece of advice, "Never forget who you are or where you came from, but embrace where you are now. Take pride in being a Hawkeye and all that comes with it".
