Lily was originally against considering the University of Iowa, but soon fell in love with the campus and especially the community.

"I grew up in a college town, so I knew I wanted something about the size of my hometown, Columbia. When my dad suggested visiting Iowa I kind of blew him off at first. From that first campus visit, and then second, I knew Iowa was the perfect school for me."

Lily didn't know right away what she wanted to study which also made Iowa appealing with over 200 areas of study from which to choose! Now, she believes that she'd like to declare a Sports and Recreation Management major and is considering going onto Law School. Getting involved in the community was also important to Lily. From being intentional about eating at local restaurants to volunteering, she's doing it.

"I love meeting new people and getting to hear their stories, and if I can even make the smallest impact on a life, I want to do so."

Lily remembers how stressful the college search can get and encourages prospective students to visit each school that they're considering. Lily says, "Nothing will give you more understanding of a school like walking on campus and imagining living there."
