Visit Options for First-Year Students
Visiting a campus is the best way to make an informed college choice, so we make it easy for you to meet the people at Iowa, ask questions, and take look around.
We offer a variety of program options:
- Daily Campus Visits
We arrange a visit to fit your schedule and focus on your interests. We suggest you visit when classes are in session—even during the summer—so you can see the residence halls, classes, and academic departments in action.
- Hawkeye Visit Days
These special events typically attract more than 700 prospective students and parents for a first look with a broader overview of the university, featuring a full day of activities led by university staff and student volunteers.
- Junior Hawkeye Visit Days
These special events are similar to our traditional Hawkeye Visit Days, but with a focus on information for high school juniors and younger just starting their college search process, featuring a full day of activities led by university staff and student volunteers.
- Admitted Student Days
These events are by invitation only for admitted high school seniors entering the university in Summer or Fall 2014, providing a more in-depth look at the university, our faculty and the academic experience, current students who will be your classmates, and more detailed information about financial aid, housing and the next steps to joining the Hawkeye Family.
- Business Preview Days
The Tippie College of Business hosts Preview Days in the fall and spring for prospective students and their families. In addition to an overview of business admission and academic options, you'll be introduced to faculty teaching core courses who offer their perspective on majors, student learning, and career trends. Current business students also talk about leadership, community service, and the Tippie culture. Lunch is provided, as well as optional tours of campus and the Tippie College of Business.
- Explore Engineering@Iowa
We invite you to spend a Saturday gaining insights into the field of engineering and what makes Iowa's engineering program a great option. You'll tour our engineering research labs, meet faculty members, and interact with current engineering students. Tours of campus and the Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts & Sciences are available; lunch is provided.
- Multicultural Visit Day
This event is hosted each fall by the UI Center for Diversity & Enrichment and the Office of Admissions to welcome multicultural students and their families to campus and learn about the vast opportunities and resources available.
