Visit Options for First-Year Students

Visiting a campus is the best way to make an informed college choice, so we make it easy for you to meet the people at Iowa, ask questions, and take look around.

We offer a variety of program options; check them out and register soon, as space may be limited for some events.

  • Daily Campus Visits
We arrange a visit to fit your schedule and focus on your interests. We suggest you visit when classes are in session—even during the summer—so you can see the residence halls, classes, and academic departments in action.
  • Junior Hawkeye Visit Days
These special events are similar to our traditional Hawkeye Visit Days, but with a focus on information for high school juniors and younger just starting their college search process, featuring a full day of activities led by university staff and student volunteers.
  • Next Step, Iowa - Admitted Student Days
These all-day events are by invitation only and are for admitted high school seniors and their families who are entering the university in Summer or Fall 2015. This event will provide a more in-depth look at the university, our faculty and the academic experience, current students who will be your classmates, and more detailed information about financial aid, housing and the next steps to joining the Hawkeye Family.
  • Explore Engineering@Iowa
We invite you to spend a Saturday gaining insights into the field of engineering and what makes Iowa's engineering program a great option. You'll tour our engineering research labs, meet faculty members, and interact with current engineering students. Tours of campus and the Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts & Sciences are available; lunch is provided.
  • Multicultural Visit Day
This event is organized by the UI Office of Admissions and the Center for Diversity & Enrichment, offered in the Fall to give visitors information about preparing for college along with resources and opportunities for multicultural students. Visitors will explore our campus, meet with faculty and staff, and hear from current students about their experiences. Multicultural Visit Day is a fantastic program and a great way to learn about the diverse cultural and academic opportunities available at the University of Iowa.
