Visit Options for First-Year Students
Visiting a campus is the best way to make an informed college choice, so we make it easy for you to meet the people at Iowa, ask questions, and take look around.
We offer a variety of program options; check them out and register soon, as space may be limited for some events.
- Daily Campus Visits
We arrange a visit to fit your schedule and focus on your interests. We suggest you visit when classes are in session—even during the summer—so you can see the residence halls, classes, and academic departments in action.
- Hawkeye Visit Days
These special events typically attract more than 700 prospective students and parents for a first look with a broader overview of the university, featuring a full day of activities led by university staff and student volunteers.
- Explore Engineering@Iowa
We invite you to spend a Saturday gaining insights into the field of engineering and what makes Iowa's engineering program a great option. You'll tour our engineering research labs, meet faculty members, and interact with current engineering students. Tours of campus and the Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts & Sciences are available; lunch is provided.
- Multicultural Visit Day
This event is organized by the UI Office of Admissions and the Center for Diversity & Enrichment, offered in the Fall to give visitors information about preparing for college along with resources and opportunities for multicultural students. Visitors will explore our campus, meet with faculty and staff, and hear from current students about their experiences. Multicultural Visit Day is a fantastic program and a great way to learn about the diverse cultural and academic opportunities available at the University of Iowa.
