Geographical and Sustainability Sciences Transfer Tips
Students can earn a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Geographical and Sustainability Sciences from the School of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability.
Geographical and Sustainability Sciences majors choose a Track from the following:
- Geographic Information Science
- Sustainability Science
Use the 2 Plus 2 website and the Online Equivalency Guide to determine appropriate transfer course equivalencies. Transfer students with an AA degree from an Iowa community college or Black Hawk Community College in Illinois will enter the university having fulfilled all of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences General Education Program requirements (except world language and Understanding Cultural Perspectives).
Complete the world language requirement as needed for Iowa's General Education Program through one of the following three pathways:
- Fourth Level of a Single World Language
- Third Level plus a World Language and Cultural Exploration Course
- Second Level of Two World Languages
Students should complete, if possible, during their first years prior to transferring equivalent courses for:
- SEES:1090 Globalization and Geographic Diversity
- SEES:1080 Introduction to Environmental Science or SEES:1085 Fundamentals of Environmental Science
- CS:1110 Introduction to Computer Science
BS students pursuing the GIS track should also complete an equivalent course to SEES:1020 The Global Environment.
