Study Abroad

Your University of Iowa experience doesn't have to be exclusively in Iowa City! Students can study abroad in a variety of academic experiences including everything from traditional classroom-based learning at a foreign university to independent field research and internships. Summer, semester, and academic year-long programs are available.

Fraternity & Sorority Life

The University of Iowa has an active fraternity and sorority life scene. 15% of undergraduate students are members of Iowa's 40+ FSL chapters on campus. Of those 40+, 15 are multiculturally based chapters. All of these chapters provide places opportunities to belong, serve, and lead as Hawkeyes.

Athletics

With over 20 Division 1 sports teams to watch, it's always a good time to be a Hawkeye. Most sports are free for students to attend, and football, basketball, and wrestling offer discounted student tickets. Join the Hawks Nest and be a part of the #1 college sports tradition!

Performing Arts

The Division of Performing Arts is the heart of our vibrant arts community. Over 400 public performances are put on by Hawkeyes every year. Whether you want to be a part of it or just want to watch, the arts are alive at Iowa.

Intramural Sports

The University of Iowa's Recreational Services offers individual and team activities. With more than 75 intramural sports, students can extend their athletic careers beyond high school in an organized, competitive, and fun environment.

Campus and Community Engagement

Finding your community on campus is a big part of the college experience. The University of Iowa has resources to help you have a successful transition to being a Hawkeye. Organizations like First-Gen Hawks and IVETS (Iowa Veteran Education, Transition, and Support) help ensure all Hawkeyes have a place in Iowa City.

Campus Safety

Safety is a top priority at the University of Iowa. UI Campus Safety provides the university community with security and law enforcement services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Available resources include Hawk Alert emergency notifications, Nite Ride, and a variety of personal safety training courses.

A healthy lifestyle is critical for success both inside and outside the classroom. Hawkeyes have access to countless leisure services at our Campus Recreation and Wellness Center (CRWC), such as fitness training and massage therapy. Our Student Health, Student Wellness, and University Counseling Services are always available to support your emotional and personal well-being.
