Health Studies Transfer Tips

Health Studies helps students understand the major determinants of health (e.g. health behaviors, clinical care, social/environmental determinants of health) and find their place within the health care field. A degree in Health Studies also offers excellent preparation for a range of pre-professional and graduate programs including nursing, public health, and health care administration.

Prior to transferring, students should complete:

  • The Anatomy and Physiology sequence equivalent to HHP:1100 Human Anatomy and 1300 Fundamentals of Human Physiology.
  • The major Mathematics or Statistics requirement.
  • The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences General Education Requirements.
    • Transfer students with an AA degree from an Iowa community college or Black Hawk College in Illinois will enter the university having fulfilled all of the General Education Program requirements (except world language and Diversity and Inclusion) in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
  • Admission Requirements for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
