International Baccalaureate Program Credit Policies

March 2020 to February 2021

The chart below lists the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program subject areas, the scores required to earn University of Iowa credit, the UI course equivalencies, and information about how earned credit can be applied. Exam results are reported on a seven-point scale, with seven being the highest. The University of Iowa offers credit only for the Higher Level (HL) exams as listed below with the exception of Mathematics, in which credit is offered for some Standard Level (SL) exams as well.

In addition, a score of 5-7 on any Higher Level (HL) "Language A: literature", "Language A: language and literature" or "Language B" exam not listed below may be used to fulfill the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences General Education Program: World Languages component; however, no credit is awarded.
