The Carver College of Medicine's Medical Laboratory Sciences MLT to MLS B.S. pathway features 2+2 transfer agreements with participating Iowa community colleges, allowing qualified MLT graduates to seamlessly continue their education and complete a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science at the University of Iowa.

The program is sponsored by the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Faculty are affiliated with the University of Iowa, Department of Pathology and University of Iowa Health Care (UIHC), one of the nation’s largest public university teaching hospitals. These connections and the program’s location on the University of Iowa campus provide a wealth of world-class resources and learning opportunities for students.

Scholarships
The University of Iowa provides a variety of scholarships to eligible undergraduate students through the Iowa Scholarship Portal. Coursework
The program is designed to provide a seamless academic pathway for certified MLTs to advance their education and professional standing by completing a bachelor's degree in MLS. Students build on their previous MLT education and experience by completing coursework in statistics, computing, physiology, higher-level biological and chemical sciences, and laboratory management. This combination of advanced science and leadership-focused coursework prepares graduates for supervisory roles and educational opportunities.
Students must complete 30 semester hours from the MLS Degree Plan at the University of Iowa to satisfy the residence requirement.
