Public Health Transfer Tips

The College of Public Health offers both a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. Students interested in the BA program will complete coursework in the social sciences and humanities, in addition to public health core courses.  Students interested in the BS will complete additional required course work in the natural sciences, mathematics, and computer sciences in addition to their public health course work.

Students interested in the BA should complete the following courses, if available, before transferring:

  • BIOL:1411 Foundations of Biology

Students interested in the BS should complete the following courses, if available, before transferring:

  • BIOL:1411 Foundations of Biology and BIOL:1412 Diversity of Form and Function
  • CHEM:1070 General Chemistry I and CHEM:1110 Principles of Chemistry I
  • MATH:1850 Calculus I

Transfer students who earn an AA degree from an Iowa community college and successfully complete the designated courses outlined above with a minimum 2.75 cumulative grade-pint-average (GPA) in all college-level coursework taken will transfer directly into the University of Iowa College of Public Health in junior standing.
