The University of Iowa Office of Admissions is seeking current undergraduate students to plan, film, and edit videos geared at prospective students looking to attend the University of Iowa. Admissions provides cameras, microphones, and other equipment. The office in 2600 University Capitol Centre includes access to Adobe Premiere (and full Creative Suite) software on Apple workstations.

  • $12.50 per hour starting salary 

  • 10 or 15 hours per week

  • Very flexible scheduling (occasional evening and weekend assignments) 

Duties:  

  • Plan, direct, shoot, and edit multiple video projects, some individually and some as part of a team

  • Write scripts, produce storyboards, recruit and manage talent, arrange locations for shoots, manage sound and lighting

  • Work with Admissions Student Video Hosts to schedule shoots, which may include occasional evenings or weekends

Required Qualifications:  

  • Experience shooting and editing video

  • Mid- to high-level expertise using Adobe Premiere and media production software

  • Requires experience using microphones and editing audio

  • Familiar with lighting a video shoot

Desired Qualifications (optional):  

  • Familiar with audio and video formats and export options

  • Familiar with online media distribution sites such as YouTube and social channels 

  • Familiar with titles/animation in Adobe After Effects

  • Familiar with Adobe Photoshop and still photography
