The UI College of Dentistry is the only dental school in the nation to offer advanced education in all dental specialties as well as residencies in operative and hospital dentistry. The college's comprehensive Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) program prepares students to begin professional dental practice immediately after graduation. The program, which requires completion of at least 90 semester hours of college-level course work prior to admission, accepts 80 new students each fall.
