My favorite thing about working in Admissions

Staff in Admissions, as well as campus partners, truly put all of their energy and enthusiasm into their work. Everyone is extremely student-oriented. I enjoy being surrounded by highly energetic Hawkeye fanatics. Admissions truly feels like a Hawkeye family with wide support for each other. A large benefit of working in the international unit is the endless opportunity to get outside my bubble and comfort zone to experience new things and widen my view of the world, allowing for more mutual understanding.

Iowa City “Must Do and Must See” Locations

When on campus, drive by the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. You will find it directly across from Kinnick Stadium. The hospital was built to overlook the football stadium so that children being treated there can watch from the glass windows on game days. After the first quarter of the game, fans in the stadium turn to wave to the children in the hospital. The "Iowa Wave" started in 2017 and is one of the best traditions in college sports. That is just one example of the caring and giving culture to be found here in Iowa City. Go to a game and experience the Iowa Wave for yourself! I would also recommend you visit the pedestrian mall in downtown Iowa City. It is conveniently located across the street from the heart of campus. You will find hundreds of unique shops, favorite restaurants, coffee shops, the famous Prairie Lights Bookstore, and more in downtown Iowa City.

What makes Iowa such a great place?

Iowans truly have warm hearts and friendly faces with a sincere social spirit of helping others in need. You will find a very high rate of volunteerism in this community. Being a top AAU research university, there are some very important and unique projects happening on campus that impact and change lives everywhere. This is a place where science meets the arts and that is visible every day!
