How to Apply

  1. Submit your online application by the appropriate deadline.
  2. Pay the $55 application fee by credit card.
  3. Students transferring to the University of Iowa must submit a high school transcript if they will have earned fewer than 24 hours of college credit by the time they enroll. Transfer students who wish to satisfy their world language graduation requirement should provide a high school transcript showing completion of four years of world language for the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. For the Tippie College of Business, transfer students should provide a high school transcript showing the completion of four years of a single world language in high school, or they can meet the requirement by completing two years of two different languages in high school (or two years in high school of one language and two semesters of a different language in college). College of Engineering, and the College of Nursing students should submit a high school transcript if they have taken physics.
  4. If you've taken college classes, ask each college to send transcripts to the Office of Admissions.
  5. Have your ACT or SAT scores sent by the testing agency. Our institutional code is 1356 for the ACT; 6681 for the SAT.
  6. Admitted freshman students will need to submit their final official transcript and test scores as soon as possible upon graduation from high school and no later than July 1.

Application Deadlines for First-year Students

Summer session and Fall semester - May 1
All application materials must be submitted on or before May 1. First year students must apply by the May 1 deadline to be considered for Fall admission. First year students who apply after March 1 for fall or summer will not be eligible for Admissions merit-based scholarships.

Spring semester - Nov. 15
All application materials must be submitted on or before November 15.
