How to Apply
- Submit the online application by the appropriate deadline.
- Pay the $80 application fee by credit card. We accept only Visa, Mastercard, and Discover.
- After you submit your application, we will send you an email asking you to establish your HawkID (username) and password to track the status of your application online through your Admissions Profile in MyUI. Within your Admissions Profile in MyUI, you will upload all required transcripts from every secondary school, college, university, technical/vocational institute, or professional institution you have attended. If you have attended a U.S. college, please have an official transcript sent to admissions@uiowa.edu. If you are requesting F1 of J1 visa status, please wait until after you have received an offer of admission. Then, log in to your Admissions Profile in MyUI and access iHawk to upload the financial documentation and passport needed by the International Students and Scholar Services (ISSS) office to issue an immigration document. For immigration questions, please contact the ISSS at isss-orientation@uiowa.edu.
- Have the testing agency send us your TOEFL, IELTS or PTE score, if applicable, based on our English Proficiency Requirements.
- Submit the Financial Statement for International Applicants (if applicable).
Application Deadlines
We encourage you to apply 9-12 months in advance of the session in which you plan to enroll.
First-Year Students:
May 1: Fall Semester Acceptance Deadline
Nov. 15: Spring Semester Acceptance Deadline
Transfer Students:
July 15: Fall Semester Acceptance Deadline
All transfer applicant official transcripts and documents must be received by Admissions prior to Aug. 1.
