For the third year in a row, U.S. News & World Report has issued a ranking that recognizes universities that excel in writing and communication across the disciplines. Iowa remains the only public university in the top 10 on the list, this year reaching the No. 2 spot, surpassing universities such as Harvard, Cornell, Duke, and Princeton.

“We want to offer every single student on campus, regardless of whether or not they are majoring in something that is directly related to writing, the chance to take advantage of the amazing opportunities at the University of Iowa,” says Daniel Khalastchi, director of the Magid Center for Undergraduate Writing.

Iowa prepares students to succeed long after they leave campus. Employers consistently rank strong writing and communication skills as the most important qualities for both new hires and current employees. Iowa aims to help every student master these skills, empowering them to stand out and lead.

That’s why Hawkeyes get hired.
