Bachelor of Liberal Studies Transfer Tips
- Students must have 24 semester hours of transferable credit completed to be admitted to the Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) online degree program.
- Students who have received an Associate of Arts degree from an Iowa two-year institution participating in articulation agreements with the University of Iowa are considered to have satisfied the Common Core Requirements Program, except for “Leadership & Career Development.”
- Students are encouraged to complete the following Core Requirements before enrolling in the BLS online degree program:
- Rhetoric (3-4 s.h.)
- Interpreting Literature (3 s.h.)
- Natural Sciences (3 s.h.)
- International and Global Issues (3 s.h.)
- Values and Society (3 s.h.)
- Statistics (3 s.h.)
- Information Literacy (2 s.h.)
- Critical Thinking (3 s.h.)
- Leadership and Career Development (6 s.h.)
- Core Requirement equivalencies can be found by using the Online Transfer Equivalency Guide.
- The BLS is designed to be completed entirely online. Both synchronous and asynchronous online course options are available.
- Most courses use an online proctoring examination service or may offer exams at our Iowa City Campus Testing Center. A small number may require proctored exams.
