First-year students and transfer applicants for whom payment of the application fee presents a significant financial hardship may request an application fee waiver.
Applications are not processed until the Office of Admissions receives one of the following forms of documentation:
- an ACT or SAT fee waiver;
- a NACAC fee waiver;
- a letter from a high school or college official on school letterhead confirming that payment of the fee would represent a significant financial hardship to the student and/or family; or
- a letter from a TRIO or Gear Up program official verifying participation in a federal program for low-income students.
In addition to waiving the $55 application fee, fee waiver documentation will automatically defer a student's $100 housing application fee and $325 acceptance fee onto their first university bill in August to allow students to complete the application process without significant financial hardship.
Application fee waiver documentation can be uploaded to the Tests/Documents section of your Admissions Profile in MyUI. You can also send fee waiver documentation to: Enrollment Management, 2900 University Capitol Centre, 201 S. Clinton St. Iowa City, IA 52242.
Fee waivers are only available to students graduating from a high school inside the U.S.
