The BA in Cinema builds on a long and venerated tradition of film education at the University of Iowa, which has long been a recognized leader int eh field.  Courses in Film Studies and Production stretch back over seven decades to the 1950s, and our alumni include many of the most influential university scholars of Film Studies and Production, as well as numerous successful members of the film and television industry.

Prior to transferring, students should complete:

  • Complete World Language requirement through one of the following pathways.  The requirement may be satisfied through high school coursework:
    • Fourth level of a single world language
    • Third level plus a world language and cultural exploration course
    • Second level of two languages
  • Complete all requirements for the AA degree.
    • Transfer students with an AA degree from an Iowa community college will enter the university having fulfilled all General Education CORE Program requirements (except World Language and Understanding Cultural Perspectives) in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
  • When transferring to Iowa, present a cumulative transfer grade-point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 from all colleges attended.
