What would people be surprised to know about you?
I went on a 7 day, 75 mile canoeing trip to the Boundary Waters in Minnesota. My friends and I went with one and a half fishing poles and only caught one fish. However, the fish never made it out of the water as my friend was too scared to grab it. Thankfully we had Ramen and Mac and Cheese for days!
My favorite thing about working in Admissions
My favorite thing about working in admissions is helping prospective students navigate through the college admissions process. Making a confusing process become clearer to students and seeing them breathe a sigh of relief as things start to make sense always makes my day. Additionally, as a recent graduate, I remember being in their shoes when I was picking where to go to college, so being able to tell them information that I wish I knew or show them a resource that I wish I had access to makes me feel good knowing that I am making their college admissions process just a little bit easier than mine was.
Iowa City “Must Do and Must See” Locations
The Iowa City Farmer's Market during the summer and fall. There are so many local vendors there selling donuts, flowers, pickles, fresh meat, and arts and crafts. There's always live music to keep up a good atmosphere and food trucks galore for any foodie who wants to expand their palates.
What makes Iowa such a great place?
Iowa has such a great community both within the institution itself and with the Iowa City and surrounding areas, it isn't hard to make this place feel like a home when you are her. Additionally, Iowa City always has a meal deal downtown that you got to take advantage of, whether it be $1 slices of pizza at Airliner on Sundays, $4 burgers at Scouts on Mondays, or Wing Wednesdays at Mickey's there is always something good to eat downtown while also saving yourself some money in the process.
