Illinois Community College Opportunity Scholarship
For students who transfer to the University of Iowa within one year after earning their associate degree. This scholarship is available to nonresident students who have only attended a community college in Illinois, no other four year institutions or community colleges outside of Illinois. Students completing their degree through one of Iowa’s Distance Education or online programs are not eligible for this award.
$7,500 a year for up to two years
Requires an associate of arts or associate of sciences degree from an Illinois community college AND a minimum 3.0 transfer GPA at the time of enrollment
Eligible applicants must complete a University of Iowa Transfer Application by the following deadlines:
- Fall Semester – May 1
- Spring Semester – November 1
Up to two years, or until you receive your bachelor’s degree (whichever comes first). You must maintain continuous full-time enrollment at the University of Iowa (fall and spring terms), a minimum 2.0 cumulative UI GPA, and continue to pay nonresident tuition. Renewal reviews are done at the end of each semester.
