For incoming first-year international citizens (not U.S. citizens or permanent residents) who are graduates of a high school outside the US. International students who graduate from a US high school will be considered for the domestic first-year scholarships.


$500 - $10,000 per year

Minimum Requirements: 

International students entering the fall (August) 2019 term will be considered for a limited number of merit scholarships. Scholarship selection is competitive, and is based on holistic review of all application information, high school marks/grades, and ACT or SAT scores.


None. Scholarship is awarded automatically to eligible students upon admission beginning November 1.


Available for up to four years or until you receive your bachelor’s degree (whichever comes first). You must maintain continuous full-time enrollment (12 semester hours) at the University of Iowa and maintain a minimum 2.50 UI GPA, continue to pay nonresident tuition for renewal. Renewal reviews are done at the end of each semester.
