Bachelor of Applied Studies Transfer Tips

  • Students must have received an associate degree to begin in the BAS program.
  • Students who have received an Associate of Arts degree from an Iowa two-year institution participating in articulation agreements with the University of Iowa are considered to have satisfied all requirements of the Core Requirements Program, except for "Business/Management."
  • Students are encouraged to complete the following Core Requirements before enrolling in the BAS program:
    1. Rhetoric
    2. Quantitative and Formal Reasoning
    3. Social Science
    4. Values, Society and Diversity
    5. Business/Management (Accounting, Business, Finance, Management, Marketing, Management Science, Entrepreneurship)
  • The Core Requirements can be found by using the Online Transfer Equivalency Guide.
  • The BAS is designed to be completed entirely online. Students are encouraged to take at least one online course prior to attending Iowa. At Iowa, students likely will enroll in courses of multiple delivery formats, including instructor-paced online courses or instructor-paced online courses which require specific online videoconferencing times.
  • Most courses use an online proctoring examination service. A small number may require proctored exams.
