The College of Engineering requires the following for direct admission.

  • Regents Admission Index of 265 or higher
  • High school GPA of 3.33 or higher
  • Meeting all high school unit requirements

If a student does not meet all of the requirements for direct admission to engineering, they will be admitted to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with an "Engineering Interest" designation.

While designated as “Engineering Interest” in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, a student may transfer into the College of Engineering after one semester, and the successful completion of Calculus I and either Principles of Chemistry I, or Introductory (calculus-based) Physics I, ideally with grades of A or B and no grade lower than a C. Grades earned in additional math, science, and engineering courses taken will also be considered as part of the admission decision; ideally these will be grades of A or B.
