The University of Iowa Tippie College of Business offers a nationally ranked business degree and unique, hands-on opportunities to set you apart. Tippie students choose from six majors in addition to learning fundamental business principles from the college's core curriculum.
Direct Admission
To be eligible for Direct Admission as a first-year student, you must meet all of the following conditions:
- Meet the high school course requirements.
- Present an ACT composite score of 26 or higher (SAT: 1230).
- Present a high school GPA of 3.60 or higher on a 4.00 scale (weighted or unweighted).
Admission directly out of high school is guaranteed to students who meet our criteria and we accept first semester/second trimester grades and standardized tests from as late as the February dates if students are working to become eligible.
We will consider students for Direct Admission who do not meet the criteria if space allows. Students in review will know their final Tippie admission status by March 15.
Standard Admission
To be eligible for Standard Admission, you must be admitted to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences as a Pre-Business major. Students are then guaranteed admission to the College of Business once they have completed the following criteria:
- 24 semester hours of college credit (from UI or transfer credit).
- No instances of academic misconduct.
- Passing grades in the prerequisites or equivalents.
- Completion of our Pre-Admission Requirement (PAR) in the semester by the end of the semester in which you apply.

Students may be admitted to this college without a test score. Please note, we do not super score.
Applying early means you’ll have plenty of time to apply for business scholarships available to direct admit and pre-business students. The priority deadline for graduating high school seniors to apply for Tippie scholarships is December 15. Applications completed after that date will be reviewed subject to the availability of additional funds.
