From a young age, Mya has always been interested in health care and the art of medicine. She decided to be a bedside nurse because she can make a direct impact on her patient's care and be with them throughout the day.

"I chose the University of Iowa because I immediately felt at home even though it was my first ever college tour." She knows she will get an amazing education in the Nursing Program which will carry her through her future endeavors. She says the opportunities at Iowa are endless, whether that be personal or professional. Hawkeyes are kind, generous, hardworking, inclusive, and motivating. She mentions that Iowa will help her grow and become the best nurse she can possibly be.

One of the most memorable experiences she has is attending the Nursing Clinical Education Center in the hospital for her first-ever lab where she learned to do IM injections and draw up medications. "I truly felt like a nursing student, and it felt even better to be in Hawkeye scrubs."
