"I love how welcoming everyone is and how everyone at Iowa loves to be here. Everyone is very into the sports atmosphere as well as the academics. Iowa nice is a true statement and I instantly felt comfortable when I first arrived on campus as a first-year."

Kate chose Business Analytics and Information Systems and Finance majors because she likes working with numbers and programs like Excel, and these two areas of study allow her to do that. The classes that she has taken so far for these majors have been very enjoyable, and she learns about topics that interest her.

A big part of her college search was finding a school with a good college town and an amazing sports atmosphere, and Iowa has both. She loves going to all the sporting events with her friends and cheering her heart out for the Hawkeyes. She also loves to go downtown to eat and study at all the awesome restaurants.

Her most memorable experience at Iowa was when the women's basketball team made it to the NCAA finals. Everyone on campus was super excited, and a big watch party was held at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Although they didn't win, it was still a lot of fun to watch the game with her friends and thousands of other students.

Her advice to incoming students would be to get involved. The best way to meet people on campus is to join a club or start a job. She would also say to "step out of your comfort zone. Leave the door to your room open as a way to meet new people, sit next to someone in a lecture, and strike up a conversation with them. You'll never know who will be your new best friend."
