Her desire to work with people and help others feel supported led her to pursue Therapeutic Recreation while preparing for a future career in occupational therapy.
Luci has been deeply involved in Salt Company, Dance Marathon, Best Buddies, intramurals, UI Reach, hospital volunteering, and sorority life. These experiences have introduced her to lifelong friends while helping her develop future career skills.
One of her most memorable Iowa experiences was participating in Dance Marathon's Big Event. Hearing stories from children and families while spending 24 hours fundraising and celebrating their strength was incredibly impactful.
A standout opportunity in her major was traveling to Cape Town, South Africa, for a Child Life experiential learning trip. The experience broadened her perspective, strengthened her professional goals, and created meaningful relationships with classmates and faculty.
Luci's advice is to approach college with an open mind. Trying new activities and embracing different opportunities can lead to friendships and experiences you never expected.
