"I knew I wanted a big public school experience with a great music program and a school of business. After 27 college tours, I realized that Iowa's facilities, programs, and close-knit community would give me all of the opportunities I needed to be successful."

Music has always been a major part of Lucas's life, especially after spending nearly 16 years playing the cello. While pursuing music, he also discovered a passion for Economics through conversations with professors and students, ultimately finding a supportive community in both fields.

Lucas is involved in Undergraduate Student Government, where he serves as a senator and helps draft legislation that impacts students across campus. He is also a member of the UI Symphony Orchestra, where he performs challenging repertoire alongside fellow musicians.

One of his most memorable experiences at Iowa was helping organize Rival Against Hunger, a competition against Iowa State University that became the largest food drive in University of Iowa history.

A surprising experience connected to his major came when a fellow cello student, who was also a pilot, flew the entire cello studio in her family's airplane before everyone celebrated together afterward.
