Claudia has wanted to be a teacher her whole life. With a deep passion for working with kids and providing them with a positive educational experience, she grows more excited about her future career with every education-related class she takes at Iowa. Her favorite course so far has been Orientation to Elementary Education.

She chose the University of Iowa because it was her favorite campus to visit, and the goals and mission of the College of Education align closely with her aspirations for college and her future classroom. The program offers opportunities for endorsements and extensive classroom experience throughout her studies.

She is actively involved in Greek life as a member of a Panhellenic sorority, which has significantly shaped her college experience by helping her develop relationships and leadership skills. Additionally, she serves as an ambassador for the College of Education, working alongside classmates and staff who share her enthusiasm for teaching.

What Claudia appreciates most about the Elementary Education program and the College of Education is the friendliness and care that everyone shows one another. She often has classes with the same group of students, allowing them to grow close and support each other both academically and personally.

Her advice to incoming students is to “never be afraid to ask for help. Whether it’s academic, personal, or interpersonal, everyone is here to support you. Your professors, TAs, RAs, advisors, and friends all want you to succeed. And don’t forget about your support system at home. If you need help, just ask—there’s always someone willing to help.”
