"I love the people I've met and the opportunities I've been gifted. I have met people who have changed my life in so many powerful ways and am so grateful for them. I've been given the opportunity to practice cutting-edge cancer research, sing with some of the most talented women, and play a sport that I love all while working towards my career."

Renata has always wanted to be a doctor, and she loves the focus on human function that the Human Physiology Program provides.

She chose Iowa because of the incredible opportunities to get involved in medicine from her first day on campus. She felt right at home on her campus tour and knew this was the right place for her.

She is the Treasurer of the Iowa Hawkapellas, which is an all-female a cappella group. She is the Vice President of Communications for the Student Advancement Network, which works with the University of Iowa Center for Advancement to learn about philanthropy and raise money for the university. She also plays women's club rugby, which is so important to her. She loves being on such a supportive team and getting the opportunity to play the sport that she loves competitively. She is also a member of Medicus, which is the Pre-Med society.

Her favorite memory has been competing at the ICCA with the Hawkapellas. "We had so much fun singing our hearts out and getting incredibly close as a group." They also got to sing the national anthem at a men's basketball game, and it was such a cool experience!

Another highlight was accepting an internship with the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. She is so honored to be a part of this incredible team and to contribute to this research.
