"My favorite thing about Iowa is all the friends I’ve made whether in my clubs or in my classes, and spending time with them either working or just hanging out with them brings me great joy."
Samin chose Mechanical Engineering because it is a versatile major that will allow him to explore various aspects of engineering, including CAD design, and manufacturing, and also have hands-on experience building and working with tools.
He loves walking around campus, especially around the Pentacrest as he goes from class to class.
Outside of the classroom, Samin is a member of the Iowa Formula Racing team, part of the chassis team working on welding joints of their new kart together. This club allows him to hang out with like-minded engineers and develop new skills in welding, mechanical design, and also interact with seniors and juniors from whom he can learn a lot.
Engineering can be challenging, but Samin reminds himself and others to take care of themselves too! Stay hydrated, eat plenty, and don’t procrastinate on homework too long.
Samin is an International Ambassador for the University of Iowa Office of Admissions. If you’re a prospective international student who has any questions about life at Iowa, please feel free to reach out to her via email at samin-tushan@uiowa.edu.
