"I toured a few different colleges and universities before touring Iowa, and Iowa's atmosphere was the first that really resonated with me. The walk around campus with my tour guide showed me so much of what the school had to offer, and I just remember seeing so many students that day dressed in black and gold and thinking to myself, "Wow, they must really like it here. I think I will too," which is why Iowa was the only school I ended up applying to."
Aidan's interest in law first led him to pursue Political Science, but as his professional goals evolved, he added a Finance degree to better prepare for the legal and business issues he hopes to work on in the future.
One of his favorite classes has been American Constitutional Law and Politics with Timothy Hagle, a course that combined his interests in law, government, and public policy.
Aidan is a member of the University's nationally competitive Mock Trial team. Through mock trial, he has traveled across the country, developed legal skills, and formed some of his closest friendships.
Among his most memorable experiences was traveling to Washington, D.C., for the National Championship Tournament with his mock trial team and representing Iowa on a national stage.
One of the biggest surprises for Aidan has been discovering how closely business and political systems intersect. Studying both Finance and Political Science has given him a broader perspective on the challenges facing law, government, and industry.
His advice is to get involved in activities you might never have considered. Some of the most meaningful experiences in college happen when you take a chance and try something new.
