"I chose the University of Iowa because of the excellence of its nursing program, which provides first-class education, real-world experience, and space for growth in the healthcare sector."
Phuong wanted to become a nurse because she has always been passionate about caring for others. The idea that she could provide comfort and support to someone in need gives her a deep sense of fulfillment and purpose. Nursing allows her to combine compassion with professional skills, contributing to individuals and communities in a meaningful way. It aligns perfectly with her values and goals, making it the ideal career path for her.
Phuong was drawn to the vibrant college town environment, which feels welcoming and full of energy. It’s an ideal place for academic success and personal development, with everything she needs conveniently close by.
Phuong’s favorite thing about attending the University of Iowa is the people—her professors, her friends, and everyone she’s met here. They are friendly and kind, creating a warm and supportive community that has made her experience here enjoyable and enriching.
A few months ago, Phuong would have said her most memorable experience was the Wave at Kinnick Stadium during On Iowa!. But now, after spending some time on campus, her most cherished memory has been hanging out with friends from different cultural backgrounds. She’s met amazing people and formed strong friendships, which have made her time at Iowa truly special.
Her advice to new students: Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Make an effort to connect with as many people as possible. It will make your experience here so much more rewarding!
