"As someone who was uncertain of what they wanted to do coming out of high school and wanted a college that had a variety of activities to do (600+ student orgs, FilmScene, variety of restaurants and coffee shops, live music, Hancher, etc.) I realized the University of Iowa is for me!"

After working closely with the Career Center, Nevaya realized that education was the perfect way to combine her love of mathematics with her desire to help others learn and grow.

She is involved in Strength in Numbers (sin(IA)), ASL Club, and Camerata Singers. These organizations have allowed her to connect with people from different backgrounds while creating a balanced and fulfilling college experience.

One of her most memorable experiences was participating in a field geology course with Professor Ted Neal. The course combined hands-on learning, fieldwork, and education-focused applications in a way she found both exciting and rewarding.

Some of her most memorable academic moments have come from collaborating with classmates while preparing for challenging analysis exams, where study groups became opportunities for encouragement and teamwork.

Nevaya's advice is to stay proactive. Research your options, check your email regularly, meet with advisors, and take advantage of opportunities early because every step you take adds up.
