"The energy on campus drew me in instantly. I love the integration of downtown Iowa City with Iowa's campus, and the resources for students are amazing. The people I met all embodied the "Iowa nice" stereotype, and that has held true in my time here!"

Her passion for environmental law led her to pursue Environmental Policy on the Pre-Law track, along with a Writing Certificate. After starting in Environmental Science, Kaitlyn found that Environmental Policy better aligned with her interests and career goals, and it has been the perfect fit ever since.

Outside the classroom, Kaitlyn is a member of Alpha Chi Omega, vice president and co-founder of Plant Futures at Iowa, a member of the Pre-Law Association of Women, and an executive member of the Thrive in 3 student initiative. These organizations have connected her with driven students and provided experiences that will continue to shape her future career.

One of her most memorable Iowa experiences came through a Writing and Community Outreach course, which combined coursework with volunteer service in the community. Through the class, she was able to connect with local organizations while reflecting on those experiences through writing.

Kaitlyn's advice to future Hawkeyes is to attend every student organization fair, residence hall event, and career fair possible. Some of the best opportunities come from stepping outside your comfort zone.
