"I chose the University of Iowa for many reasons, but the short answer is that it checked all of my boxes. Not only does it have one of the best writing programs in the country, but it also has amazing school spirit and is the best college town."

A lifelong reader and writer, Kylie knew she wanted to pursue English and Creative Writing from an early age. She added the Publishing track because she hopes to build a career in the publishing industry and be part of bringing great stories to readers.

Outside the classroom, Kylie is involved in a Panhellenic sorority and works with several literary magazines on campus. These experiences have helped her build lasting friendships while connecting with students who share her passion for writing, publishing, and creative expression.

A standout experience within her major was attending her first "Big Meeting" with Ink Literary Magazine. Discussing student writing with fellow editors reinforced how special Iowa's writing community is and how much students genuinely care about one another's creative work.

Kylie's advice to future Hawkeyes is simple: trust your gut. Even though Iowa was far from home and unfamiliar compared to other schools she considered, following her instincts led her exactly where she was meant to be.
