Mary loves the community and school spirit. Everyone who goes here loves being a Hawkeye and is willing to support and include other students in their home!
One of her most memorable experiences related to her major happened during her music methods course sophomore year. For the first time, she got to lead an engaging reading lesson that incorporated music. It reminded her why she chose to become a teacher and helped me build a stronger connection with both her classmates and instructor.
Her biggest advice is to keep an open mind and put yourself out there. Join clubs, knock on your neighbors’ doors, go to university events, and really find your community on campus.
