"I chose the University of Iowa because I was looking for a true college town experience. After touring several universities, I instantly felt at home when I stood on the Pentacrest overlooking downtown Iowa City. The sense of community and school spirit convinced me that Iowa was the right place to begin my journey."

Originally uncertain about her career path, Rishika was drawn to nursing because it combines science, critical thinking, and human connection. She loves that nursing is a career where compassion and empathy will always be essential, no matter how much technology advances.

Outside the classroom, Rishika is heavily involved in Dance Marathon, an organization that supports pediatric cancer patients and their families. The mission is especially meaningful to her because it allows students to make a direct impact on children receiving care at the Stead Family Children's Hospital.

One of her favorite Iowa memories is watching the sunset on the west lawn of the Old Capitol with friends at the end of her first year. Reflecting on everything she had experienced while looking ahead to the future made it a truly special moment.

Rishika's advice is to try everything. Putting yourself out there can help you discover new passions, meet lifelong friends, and find your own place within the Hawkeye community.
