Maggie decided to pursue mechanical engineering because she has always loved math and science, and "when I found out I could combine my love for those with my creativity, I knew engineering was for me."
She loves the environment that the University of Iowa fosters because she knows there is something for everyone, and no matter what, you will always have someone supporting and encouraging you.
The most memorable experience she has had as a student at the University of Iowa was the first time her freshman year roommate and she had McDonalds on the floor of their residence hall room. "This was the first time I truly felt at home, and this became a tradition of ours throughout the year."
Her advice for incoming students is to give yourself time to adjust. Everyone has been in your shoes before and adapts at their own pace. Remember that everything takes time, and everything happens for a reason.
