"I chose Iowa because it has the best creative writing program in the country, and it has a college town feel with a small campus that was appealing to me."

Solenn’s passion for writing and publishing led her to pursue her academic journey at the University of Iowa. One of her favorite classes so far has been Personal Portraits, Family Stories, and Object Biographies.

Solenn loves her classes, extracurricular activities, and the amazing friendships she has formed at Iowa. She is heavily involved on campus, serving as the editor-in-chief of Broken Clock, a literary magazine, and as a member of the marketing team for Wilder Things, another literary magazine. "These roles not only give me career experience but are also a great way to meet others who share my love for writing."

One of her most memorable experiences as a student was watching Caitlin Clark break the record at Carver. In her major, her standout moment was becoming editor-in-chief for the first-year literary magazine, Ink Lit.

Her advice for incoming students is simple: "Get involved! It’s the best way to meet people, explore your interests, and fight homesickness."
