How to Apply

  1. Submit your application.

    Apply through the University of Iowa application.

    Application deadlines vary by program. Please select your intended college below for more information.

    If you are an international transfer student, please review the additional application requirements.

  2. Pay the application fee.

    The $55 application fee is non-refundable.

  3. Provide your academic records.

    Have official transcripts sent from every college and university you have attended. Transcripts must be mailed from the issuing institution to the address below, or sent electronically via email.

  4. If you are transferring fewer than 24 semester hours:

    Have your test scores sent from the testing agency. Our institution code is 1356 for the ACT; 6681 for the SAT. Have your high school send us your final official transcript.

Test Scores for Students Applying Fall 2025: If a student does not provide an ACT or SAT test score at the time of application, they may be required to submit additional academic documents, transcripts, or a personal statement and may delay the process to receive an admission decision. The Students will be contacted via email if any additional documents are required. Learn more about our guidelines and timeline for students not providing test scores.

The deadlines to apply for most undergraduate programs (excluding some programs in education, nursing, and business):

July 15

for Fall Semester All transfer applicant official transcripts and documents must be received by Admissions prior to Aug. 1
