Because my family would be so far away, I wanted to find a campus that would allow me multiple opportunities to build a support system within the community. I didn't want to just be a college student on a college campus but also a member of the off-campus community."
Her interest in business began in high school, where she discovered a passion for subjects like management, marketing, and leadership. That foundation inspired her to pursue multiple majors, minors, and certificates within the business field.
Melina currently serves in a leadership role with Dance Marathon, a student organization dedicated to supporting pediatric cancer patients and their families. Through the organization, she discovered a passion for service while forming some of her closest friendships.
One of her most memorable Iowa experiences was witnessing the Hawkeye Wave for the very first time. The emotion and unity of the moment left a lasting impression.
A pleasant surprise during her time in Tippie has been the abundance of networking opportunities available through the college and Pomerantz Career Center. These experiences have connected her with alumni and industry professionals while helping prepare her for life after graduation.
Melina's advice is to choose the college where you believe you will grow the most. The easiest choice is not always the best one for your future.
