Melina's main concern about going out of state was how far her family was going to be and finding a place where she could build a support system on campus. The university and Iowa City work closely together to ensure students not only participate in campus events but also in community events. Here, she knew she wouldn't just be a college student on a college campus; she would be part of the larger community. 

Her favorite aspect of attending the university revolves around the connections she has built throughout her time here. "The relationships formed with my peers and professors will continue to stay with me post-graduation."

Her advice for incoming Hawkeyes: Get involved! The best way to find your place on campus is to connect with people who share similar interests. My time in Dance Marathon has helped me create a group of friends with whom I spend most of my free time.
