Choosing the University of Iowa was an easy decision for Maizy. "I knew I wanted to do something medical, and with the hospital right on campus, Iowa was the obvious choice. The opportunities here for both education and hands-on experience are incredible."

Maizy is on the executive board for the Communication Sciences and Disorders Research Club, where they learn about various research projects being conducted by professors. "Being involved in research myself, it’s so fulfilling to help others get involved." Maizy is also on the exec board for Girl Gains, a female wellness and weightlifting club. "It’s a welcoming and inclusive environment, and we just want to help girls on their fitness journeys!"

Maizy’s advice to future students? "This is YOUR college experience, and it’s what you make it. Join the organizations that interest you, even if your friends aren’t joining them. Having a community around you is so important, and you’ll make tons of friends with similar interests.
