The University of Iowa welcomes more than 5,000 new undergraduate students to campus each year from high schools and colleges around the world.

First-Year Students

Applicants still in high school (including students who are taking college courses while still in high school)

Transfer Students

Applicants who have attended another college or university

First-year or transfer applicants who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents

Returning Students

Applicants who previously attended the University of Iowa and who would like to resume their studies

Nondegree Students

Applicants who want to take a course or courses but are not currently seeking admission to a degree program (e.g. high school students, visiting college students, study abroad students, distance and online education students)

Distance and Online Education Students

Applicants who plan to take only Distance and Online Education courses (Online, Off-Campus), but are not seeking admission to a degree program

Youth & Pre-College Programs

The University of Iowa offers a variety of summer camps and pre-college programs for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
